Stress Relief with Acupressure

This is a guest post by Nathan Burns, Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine.     Nathan is a colleague of ours at the clinic.     I am a big fan of Chinese Medicine and I don’t think there’s anything more relaxing than acupuncture!   Here are some tips from Nathan about how you can help yourself to feel relaxed.   –  Clare

Stress!

Stress comes in many forms, physical, mental or emotional. And in most cases a combination of two or three of these is present.

Work stress, family stress, financial stress, health stress the list is endless. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a very effective treatment for stress and stress related conditions.

These may include:

Headache

Muscle Ache

Anger

Anxiety

Stomach Upset

Insomnia

TCM looks at the causes and manifestations of stress.

Acupressure you can do anywhere for stress relief:

  1.  Massage this acupuncture point to help you get through your day. Slowly use your opposite thumb to open up the point. Breathe deeply to begin relaxing.

2.  When you get home, massage this point as well, to pull the tension from your head and out through your feet.

You don’t have to let stress disrupt your life, sure the things that stress us may still be there, but it is how you deal with it that is important.

Stay well,

Nathan
